Dirt

We don’t have anything close to a backyard at the moment but our (currently empty) planter box still provides the kids with plenty of entertainment. It’s like a magnet for them whenever they go out back and I usually will only unleash the kids out there if I know I’m giving them a bath later. I love hearing their little giggles through the screen door as they play together and would probably tell Lily to stop throwing dirt on Miles more if he didn’t enjoy it so much…

Halloween

We had a great Halloween season with you and your sister! You (and I guess dad too) were superman and you had a grand ‘ole time getting some candy at the trunk or treat. You also loved taking a trip out to our favorite pumpkin patch! You wanted to eat every pumpkin and became frustrated that you couldn’t pick up the big ones :).
As usual, I just love the happiness you exude. It always amazes me and brings joy to our whole family. You are closer to walking and want to try lots of new things but get frustrated that you cannot keep up with Lil. Just give it some time and you’ll be running laps around her! I love that you two are becoming such great friends and I hope that will continue long into the future.

My Little Happy Chappy

Miles, I am amazed every day at your happy spirit. I have been so blessed with happy children while your father and I go through some more stressful times with school and apartment managing. It has been such a help to have children who help to lift my spirit! You are such a little trouble maker! You keep exploring your independence and mobility and like to get into EVERYTHING. I thought our place was messy before, but now that you and Lily both can strew your things about the apartment it is a disaster area. I honestly see no point cleaning since 30 minutes later it looks the same as before. But I’ll take the messes since I get to take care of you and your sister.

You have been standing up and “cruising” for about a month now and you have just started to get to a standing position without having to hold on to anything. You like to practice this new trick for a few minutes at a time and you are so proud of yourself when you stand up. You do this little high pitched, light laugh that is the cutest thing in the world. You can’t stop giggling while you are standing unaided and I love it! I think it’ll still be about a month or so before you start to walk, but it should definitely be before your birthday.

You are eating everything under the sun and are always demanding food. When we are too slow feeding you, you like to yell/scream to get our attention. It’s not a scream in a bad way or you throwing a tantrum, but just a short, loud, shout to say ‘Ok! I’m ready for more, now!” I stopped nursing you last month since you were biting me way too much, but luckily you didn’t seem to mind too much.

You love to follow your sister around and want to get into whatever she is doing. Your little face just lights up at the chance to play with her. She is so caring and attentive with you and it makes my heart happy. One of your favorite things is to pull Lil’s hair, which drives her nuts and makes you laugh and laugh. I am so happy you are friends!

here are a few pictures from your recent escapades.

Tub Time

You LOVE the bath! It took a little while for you to warm up to it, but it’s now your favorite thing. Every time I turn the water on you pull yourself up next to the tub and start bouncing up and down. You start making noises like you do when you’re trying to steal my food that convey your excitement and need to get in the water! Once I plop you in there you go to town and have lots of fun. Your sister usually wants to join you and you’re always happy to have extra company.

Below was our experiment with Jello ice cubes. Definitely a hit and something fun when our apartment gets too hot!

6 months

You seriously are one of the happiest kids I know. You love to laugh and just enjoy life. You aren’t very fussy unless you’re hungry (go figure) and you are a very determined little boy. You are so close to crawling! You love to get on all fours and rock back and forth, sometimes putting your arms to explore. You have always hated being on your back and I think that is inspiring you to move.

You love coming with Lil and me everywhere we go and are usually happy to hang out in the stroller. You are still filled with so much amazement at all of the new things you get to see every day. Lily is usually off doing her own thing but she always makes sure to circle back and try to make you laugh. You two are becoming better and better friends and that makes me so happy!

You finally had your first rice cereal and of course you loved it! Any way to get more food into your mouth… Winking smile

5 months

How fast 5 months fly by! I realize this second go round that I only have so many months with a little infant that I am trying to treasure every moment. I haven’t picked up any books this time trying to figure out where you should be developmentally or what milestone to look forward to next because I am just enjoying you. I know all too well that you will be growing and progressing soon enough. I am so grateful for this precious time I have with you.

You are still such a happy guy! Everyone loves you and comments on how smiley and happy you are. You can roll over both ways now and can scoot pretty far across the room by yourself now. I think we are going to have to go through our place and take away the possible choking hazards to keep you safe. You want so badly to sit up and try every day. You want to so much that you even prefer to eat/nurse sitting up, which is kind of awkward for me :). You have been sleeping in your crib in Lily’s room now for a few weeks and I have been getting so much sleep! You usually sleep from 8:30 to 7 and only wake up around 5 am most nights. Lily loves having the company and doesn’t wake up when you cry most nights. Most of the time I just have to wrap you up and set you down in the crib and you just fall right to sleep. Other times you cry a bit but within minutes you are out. You still love when I sing to you, which makes me very happy!

You love to laugh your little brains out! Your sister just has to look at you and you start giggling. She tickles you and makes funny faces and laughs at you and you just laugh right back. The two of you were recently babysat by some friends who said you laughed the whole time we were gone! The young teen in charge had to ask her mom what to do because you needed to go to bed but you wouldn’t stop laughing :). I love those kind of post-babysitting reports! You also recently spent some time with grandma and grandpa Aragon and they said you were a joy as well. The only time you cried was when you were ready for bed and when they had to refill your bottle.

You are such a pleasant kid and I am so happy to be your mom.

My Smiley Little Guy!

I can’t believe how fast 3 and 1/2 months have gone by! You are turning into such a fun little man. We just had your check up and you now weigh 16 lbs 13 oz! That’s huge! Looking back at Lily’s blog I find that at 7 1/2 months she only weighed 15 lbs. You’ve sure got her beat! You have recently started turning over from your back to your stomach which means we have to be very careful not to leave you unattended for any amount of time. You go back and forth between waking up only once per night to 3+ times. For some reason I have been handling the sleeplessness much better this time and have been able to run on empty much more efficiently :). You smile all the time and seem like such a happy kid! You love attention and hate to be alone. You are a little snuggle bug and want to be near any one who will take you. You love bath time and have started to kick your legs a lot which always splashes me. Lily loves to help me with your bath and I let her use her little cup to rinse off your tummy and legs. She is always so careful and makes sure you don’t get too much water on your face. With almost everything I do Lily is right there trying to help. She recently discovered that if she gets in your face and asks “Did you like that?” that you laugh your head off. She LOVES to do that! I am so happy that you two have each other.
