6 months

You seriously are one of the happiest kids I know. You love to laugh and just enjoy life. You aren’t very fussy unless you’re hungry (go figure) and you are a very determined little boy. You are so close to crawling! You love to get on all fours and rock back and forth, sometimes putting your arms to explore. You have always hated being on your back and I think that is inspiring you to move.

You love coming with Lil and me everywhere we go and are usually happy to hang out in the stroller. You are still filled with so much amazement at all of the new things you get to see every day. Lily is usually off doing her own thing but she always makes sure to circle back and try to make you laugh. You two are becoming better and better friends and that makes me so happy!

You finally had your first rice cereal and of course you loved it! Any way to get more food into your mouth… Winking smile

5 months

How fast 5 months fly by! I realize this second go round that I only have so many months with a little infant that I am trying to treasure every moment. I haven’t picked up any books this time trying to figure out where you should be developmentally or what milestone to look forward to next because I am just enjoying you. I know all too well that you will be growing and progressing soon enough. I am so grateful for this precious time I have with you.

You are still such a happy guy! Everyone loves you and comments on how smiley and happy you are. You can roll over both ways now and can scoot pretty far across the room by yourself now. I think we are going to have to go through our place and take away the possible choking hazards to keep you safe. You want so badly to sit up and try every day. You want to so much that you even prefer to eat/nurse sitting up, which is kind of awkward for me :). You have been sleeping in your crib in Lily’s room now for a few weeks and I have been getting so much sleep! You usually sleep from 8:30 to 7 and only wake up around 5 am most nights. Lily loves having the company and doesn’t wake up when you cry most nights. Most of the time I just have to wrap you up and set you down in the crib and you just fall right to sleep. Other times you cry a bit but within minutes you are out. You still love when I sing to you, which makes me very happy!

You love to laugh your little brains out! Your sister just has to look at you and you start giggling. She tickles you and makes funny faces and laughs at you and you just laugh right back. The two of you were recently babysat by some friends who said you laughed the whole time we were gone! The young teen in charge had to ask her mom what to do because you needed to go to bed but you wouldn’t stop laughing :). I love those kind of post-babysitting reports! You also recently spent some time with grandma and grandpa Aragon and they said you were a joy as well. The only time you cried was when you were ready for bed and when they had to refill your bottle.

You are such a pleasant kid and I am so happy to be your mom.

My Smiley Little Guy!

I can’t believe how fast 3 and 1/2 months have gone by! You are turning into such a fun little man. We just had your check up and you now weigh 16 lbs 13 oz! That’s huge! Looking back at Lily’s blog I find that at 7 1/2 months she only weighed 15 lbs. You’ve sure got her beat! You have recently started turning over from your back to your stomach which means we have to be very careful not to leave you unattended for any amount of time. You go back and forth between waking up only once per night to 3+ times. For some reason I have been handling the sleeplessness much better this time and have been able to run on empty much more efficiently :). You smile all the time and seem like such a happy kid! You love attention and hate to be alone. You are a little snuggle bug and want to be near any one who will take you. You love bath time and have started to kick your legs a lot which always splashes me. Lily loves to help me with your bath and I let her use her little cup to rinse off your tummy and legs. She is always so careful and makes sure you don’t get too much water on your face. With almost everything I do Lily is right there trying to help. She recently discovered that if she gets in your face and asks “Did you like that?” that you laugh your head off. She LOVES to do that! I am so happy that you two have each other.

3 Months

My little Miles. I can’t believe it’s already been 3 months since you’ve been born. It feels like it was yesterday just as much as it feels like you’ve always been part of our family. You are such a joy to have around and we all love you so much.

You are a fairly happy baby and smile and giggle all day long. You love to have attention and hate being left alone. You have come around and love to snuggle much more than when you were first born and I am so grateful! You really only cry when you are alone or when you’re sleepy. I haven’t decided if you’re much clearer with your signals than Lily was or if I just know what I’m doing this time around! You love to stare at our faces have started showing an interest in playing with toys. I love watching your sweet little stare when you’re seeing something new or concentrating. You absolutely love music! When I sing to you your face lights up with the biggest smile and you start bouncing along. Maybe you’re remembering all the singing I did while pregnant with you :).

You are enjoying tummy time much more and are becoming very strong. A few times you have rolled to your back when you’ve decided your done with that. I can’t believe how big you are getting! We are going in for another checkup next week but I am guessing you are 16lbs already! You are fitting into the 6-9 mo clothes and some of those feel a little snug at times. You love the bath and luckily don’t seem to mind when Lily helps rinse you off and splashes a little water in your face.

At this point you are napping a lot throughout the day with your main 3 hour nap mid day. THANK YOU! As long as I wrap you up in your Velcro swaddler you stay asleep for a while. If we just lay you down with your limbs free you wake up after 15 minutes max. You also love your swing and will sleep in there for a decent amount of time but only if we turn on the music.

I am so grateful you are in our little family! We just love you! So does your sister. Here she is “playing” with you and a few highlighter pens :)

7 Weeks

Last week we went in for your 6 week check-up at the doctor. You have grown quite a bit! You now weigh 13 lbs and are in the 93rd percentile for weight for your age! You have grown 2 inches and are now 23 inches tall. You passed your check up with flying colors and everything looks great. Of course you had to get 3 vaccines and as always it breaks my heart to see you get them. You were a trooper and made it through :). You have become much more alert and are following us with your eyes more. You have begun to smile and even giggle every once in a while, though not with any consistency yet. You LOVE getting your diaper changed and get this goofy smile every time I wipe your bum. You have discovered your hands and love to suck on your fists when you get bored- which is so cute! You are stubborn when it comes to sleep and mostly refuse to go to bed until midnight, but tend to sleep pretty well after that.We just started using the velcro swaddler on you at night and you don’t love it but you just slept 7 hours last night! That makes one very happy momma! I love you to pieces, my handsome little boy :)

First Christmas

Yesterday you turned 6 weeks. I can’t believe how fast this has gone by! I am so lucky to spend this precious time with you getting to take care of you. as hard and time consuming as it is, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

You have been sick, along with the rest of the family, for the past week or so. It has been rough because I don’t know exactly what is bothering you so I feel I can’t effectively take care of you. Luckily, you have been able to sleep well. It is just during the day that you have been fussy. Hopefully you will get better soon and we can stop worrying.

You are very strong. You are so good at holding up your head, though I think that is a result of you not wanting to snuggle with me. Your sister Lily loved to just sit and nuzzle on my chest but you definitely do not love that position. That makes me a little sad, but at least you let me hold you in other ways without crying. You clearly prefer your father and he can get you to quiet down in an instant. I guess that should bother me but I am happy that one of us can calm you down.

Today was the first time that you smiled a bunch. It is so cute! Kind of a little one-eye-closed-half-smile that looks a little goofy but I love it! This pic is just before a full smile :)

This past week we had your blessing at church. It was beautiful and you had lots of my(mom’s)family there. They were so nice to come and support you even though they had to drive far and don’t normally go to church. After we went to lunch and enjoy all being together.

The next day was Christmas eve and we spent it with your grandpa and grandma Aragon. You got to meet your aunt Jen and uncle Tom and cousin Colin. We had a blast and everyone loved getting to hold you, especially grandpa! We had Christmas morning at home and it was a wonderful day. You and your sister bring us so much joy!

Your sister is over the moon in love with you! She talks to you and wants to play with you and randomly says “I love baby Miles…” while walking around in our apartment. Whenever you cry or fuss she’ll let me know that I need to take care of you and will try to talk to you as well to help out. In her efforts to help out the other day she picked you up and you both fell off the bed…Luckily no one was hurt! I know that her intentions are pure and that she wants you to be happy and safe. I hope the two of you will be great friends and I am happy you have each other.

3 weeks

This has been such a hectic 3 weeks! I still can’t believe that I have two children. AS is the usual, we had two weeks of nice peaceful newborn, and then Miles woke up… We have been experiencing the evening fussiness pretty much every day. It doesn’t seem as bad as it was with Lily, but it is still a little taxing. The good thing is that I know this period will end and that I know it’s not my fault he is crying. I can also appreciate that if he is fussing all evening that he will sleep during the night. Or that if he is fussing all morning before church, he will sleep at least during sacrament meeting. I have had very few moments this time around where I have gotten frantic or super stressed. And the few times I have usually involve both children needing things at the same time.

Miles seems to be very strong. He is great at lifting his head up when I am holding him to my chest. He likes to look around and he is very alert. He seems to be growing much faster then Lily as far as weight goes. He definitely is a little chunk! He prefers to be held up under his arms, like in the first picture below, or to lay across my knees on his stomach when he is fussy. And he definitely prefers daddy! Clark seems to have the magic touch when calming him down. It is a little frustrating that I can’t seem to do that, but I’m grateful that Clark can and that he is willing to do so.  One other small issue is that Miles gets a little worked up when he is eating and tends to swallow a bunch of air, so he needs to stop quite a bit to burp. I don’t mind so much, I just hate how uncomfortable it makes him. I very much appreciate that he is sleeping relatively well at this point. He will usually wake up 2 or 3 times a night, but he falls right back asleep when he’s done eating, and that helps a lot! It’s the staying up for an hour+ in the middle of the night that kills you.

Lily LOVES to interact with him. She doesn’t seem jealous and likes to make sure I am taking care of him. She loves to grab his arm and make him “wave” to people, though usually that doesn’t make Miles very happy. She talks to him and thinks it is so funny if he makes a noise or burps. If he happens to swing his arm around and touch Lil she’ll happily giggle that he “got“ her. I am so happy that she loves him so!

I am so very grateful for the opportunity to take care of this sweet little boy and I can’t wait to see how he develops as a little person and to also see the friendship between he and his sister.

I love my babies!
